Asus brought their all new Zenfone 3 models in the market recently and now they are leaving no stone unturned to promote the latest lineup. So, for their ‘Streetsourced’ advertising campaign, two comedians on behalf of ASUS, have come out to the streets of New York! Comedians – Betsy Kenney and Matt Rubano, from Upright Citizens Brigade from the New York-based improvisational comedy group, stopped and interviewed New Yorkers on the street for impromptu ad ideas and stories.
Stating that the Asus Zenfone 3 lets you be anything that you want, they ask random people on the streets to be their commercial director.
The new ZenFone 3 were shown to these ‘improvised directors’ and were briefed about its features — such as its full-metal body with invisible antenna, Hi-Res audio system, and camera. Further, they were requested to narrate entertaining ideas on the spot for an advert featuring the smartphone.
The chaps enlisted for directing the new commercial brought in outlandish story ideas that included snow blizzards on a tropical beach, a disguised alien who gets impressed by the Zenfone’s camera capabilities, and finally a gigantic dinosaur! The video was created from hundreds of spontaneous ideas obtained from pedestrians, who were engaged on the streets of New York by the comedians.
Ultimately, this is what Asus wants to convey through this Streetsourced commercial – The Alien and the Dinosaur reflects the campaign by bringing the contributors’ wildest ideas and imaginations to life. For example, one of the plot elements of the video involved photographing a UFO flying at high speed, to demonstrate the ZenFone 3 PixelMaster camera’s rapid-focus capability when capturing moving objects. Another scenario had ZenFone 3 saving a party by using its incredibly loud speaker to replace a malfunctioning audio system.
