7 notable features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Samsung has unveiled the much-awaited Galaxy Note 7 and its pre-registrations have already started. The phone maker skipped the no. 6 of the series and directly brought the 7 in the market. Reportedly, Samsung planned this in order to sync the sequence of the Note series with their Galaxy S products. The Note phablets have proved to be handheld work stations for many users and with each upgraded version, Samsung has brought in new features of convenience and security. So this time, it is no different! Samsung has packed the all new Note 7 with some remarkable features that sets the game a level high. These are 7 notable features of the Note 7 that the phablet has to offer-

1. Design

The new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 gets an almost bezel-less display. It is the first Note with a dual-curved screen that meets a curved back. The construction comprises a glass on front and metal on the back that bend in unison. While bragging about the design the folks at Samsung say that The Note 7 is the first Note to be perfectly symmetrical, top to bottom, side to side, and front to back.

2. Power and Performance

Powering the Note 7 will be the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 coupled. Samsung will also roll out an OctaCore version of the phablet that will use Exynos 8890 SoC that employs a Quad-core 2.3 GHz Mongoose and Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53. The Snapdragon variant will pack in the Adreno 530 GPU whereas the Exynos will get the Mali-T880 MP12 unit. Both these version will have 4GB of RAM. Also, there is unconfirmed news that says that a more powerful 6GB RAM version will be launched in few parts of the Globe.

3. Water and dust proof capabilities

The Samsung Galaxy Notes of the past were powerful workstations with gorgeous Super AMOLED screens, impressive specs and more. While all of this stuff has been exciting, there was one feature that it didn’t have that could make it a complete package. And now it seems that the circle is complete! This new Note 7 gets IP68 certification that makes it dust proof and can survive a dip in waters 1.5 meters deep and up to 30 minutes.

4. Updated S-Pen

Samsung took the stylus trend to the next level with their S-Pen. Crafted specially for the note series, the S-pen is not just a pointing and selecting device but is packed with a distinct tech and mech that makes it featureful. The S-pen this time, gets a finer tip and just by hovering it on the screen it activates Air Command. On previous Notes, if the users didn’t put the S-pen in its slot properly, the stylus’s mechanicals would get damaged in turn leaving the S-pen useless. So this time, Samsung has resolved the problem and also the water&dust resistance treatment is extended yo the S-pen as well.

5. Storage space

Another thumbs up to Samsung! The Note 5 offered three storage options – 32GB, 64GB and 128GB and these versions did not come along with any expandable storage. Well, that’s not the case this time! The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be available with 64GB internal memory and an expansion slot on the sim tray will support memory cards upto 256GB. Apparently, the Snapdragon-powered version will get a dedicated microSD slot but the Exynos powered version will have Dual sim capabilities and will use a Hybrid sim tray for memory expansion.

6. USB Type-C

Samsung has got rid of the micro USB port and fitted the Galaxy Note 7 with a USB Type-C port. Well, this new hardware provides convenience and saves you a lot of milli-seconds which you waste in trying to figure out the right way to plug in the cables. Since the feature is not standard on a lot of smartphones, therefore in times of emergency (when users are not carrying their type-C chargers) it is hard to find a compatible power cable to fuel the battery up. Nonetheless, The phone also gets a waterproof backpack that doubles up as a 3100 mAh powerbank.

Now, coming to one of the most talked about feature of the Note 7-

7. Iris Scanner

After adding security options like PIN, password, pattern, and Fingerprint sensor, Samsung is taking the safety aspect to the more secure level. Samsung has introduced an Iris scanner in the Galaxy Note 7. In order to authenticate the user’s iris (The colored, ring-shaped part of your eye that surrounds and controls the size of the pupil) the phone uses a specially developed scanner. Your files and apps can be kept protected within a secure folder. As said by the company, “Samsung’s defense-grade Knox system will make sure that the data stays private.”
