Yesterday was a big day for the happy folks at Xiaomi, as they brought their biggest ever phone packed with the largest battery they have made to the Indian market. The Mi Max garnered a lot of cheer and whistles at the launch event. Reportedly, some disappointed fans created chaos due to mismanagement but finally the show ended on a ‘big’ note.
Along with the new phone launch, Xiaomi also introduced the latest edition of their well receives Mi user interface (MIUI). The MIUI 8 beta version will be released 11 July 2016 following which the stable version will be up for grabs from 16 August 2016. The tech blokes at Xiaomi have given the latest MIUI 8 a major design overhaul and a lot of intuitive features have been pumped into it. While there are many that the makers boast about, we pick 8 things about the MIUI 8 may not really ‘Simplify your life’ but atleast ease it a little bit.
Almost all of Xiaomi phones will receive the MIUI 8 Global Beta rom on release. The devices include –

The interface has received a host of visual upgrades. Starting from the drop down panel, since the UI is based on Android Marshmallow the notification area has been redone for a new visual treat ment. Users can switch back to the previous two page panel if the new one doesn’t suit them. The lock screen also offers a new wallpaper carousal that suggests wallpapers according to preferences. Some app icons have been redesigned as well.

The Gallery app has been given an all new fascia. Ou can now view more photos at a glance on the front page. The panorama preview feature is a cool new addition. And the new ‘share’ option lets you share images and videos through multiple platforms in lesser taps.

There is not much buzz about changes in the camera interface, but the photo and video editing apps will provide ample filters for you to make you photos and videos stand out of the crowd. The doodle, crop, and adjust options are also pumped up with new editing options. The new ‘Mosaic’ option lets you hide sensitive, personal info, or unwanted objects from your photographs. The scrolling screenshots is another addition to the feature list for taking scrolling screenshots of webpages and news articles.

The Floating ball feature is like the Assistive touch we seen on iPhones. It provides one-handed control to easily access frequent apps and actions.

The Calculator utility app receives and integrated convertor. The conversion options include – currency, mortgage, scientific, length, area, volume, temperature, and velocity.

The Notes features have been redesigned and the interface now offers a variety of background cards that redecorates the plain experience.

The MIUI8 will roll out with a new innovative ‘Dual apps’ option that will allow users to create and sign into dual accounts for any app, including social media applications like WhatsApp, Facebook and more.

The Second space feature will offer intuitive security features. The users can use different passcodes or fingerprints to access different profiles, each with its own wallpaper, apps, files and photos.
There are many more features and options to talk about like, the new Directory search that lets you search contacts or local businesses in English or Hindi straight from the dialpad, and the MIUI’s built-in Caller ID to instantly identify incoming calls without using third-party apps and many more.
