Motorola Moto G gets Lollipop update in India

Motorola recently started pushing out the Android Lollipop update for its Moto G phones in India, in a phased manner. Both models of the Moto G, the older one released in 2013 and the newer one released in 2014, are getting the update.

The second generation Moto G is the device grabbing Lollipop in the US, while both generations of the handset are being updated in India. The company recently teased the update, which would be hitting 2013 and 2014 devices soon enough. If you happen to own the mid-range device, be sure to be on the lookout for the update notification.

“Updates of this nature take time. It’s no secret that when 5.0 launched it still had bugs. And, when we update our products, we end up finding more bugs that need to be fixed. There are a lot of reasons for what that happen, but, basically, each phone has a unique set of components and a way they interact. When Google creates a new release, they don’t validate it for all the possible combinations there are, and they won’t fix anything that’s not reproducible on a Nexus device, that’s our job,” said a Motorola engineer.
