A day after OnePlus introduced its sleek and sexy looking Bullets earphone in India, Xiaomi has introduced its own Bluetooth, wireless headphones in China. The new in-ear phones, namely Xiaomi Mi Sports Bluetooth Headset, are meant for sports enthusiasts who don’t want wires dangling around their tees as they pump iron or sprint.
It’s an in-ear design, although the earbuds come attached with a loop so that the device clings on to your ears and doesn’t fall off easily. Both earpieces are connected with a wire, so in case one of the two earbuds falls off, it will take the other one down with itself.
The earbuds which look slightly bulkier than normal, weigh a decent 17.8g. Battery would last for a long 7 hours with a 110mAh unit powering it. Connection is over a Bluetoth 4.1 with the headset having the capability to connect to two devices at the same time.
Another great feature is the headset’s IPx4 rating, which makes it not just splash resistant but counters sweat as well. It’s also claimed to be quite rugged and has been tested in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 70°C.
The quality of construction is pretty good here and the metal parts are carved using CNC cutting process and get an anodized aluminum metal exterior. Metallic texture comes with scratch resistance, and has laser nano-coating technology for dust and water protection.
Xiaomi has also placed independent volume keys tested for 5 million presses on the earphone to make the wire lightweight and sleek. The xiaomi Mi Sports Bluetooth Headset comes with two color choices – Black and White and has 5 different sizes of silicon ear caps.
