Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 4G launched exclusively for China

An upgraded version of the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air has been launched in China on Friday. What’s new? Well it now comes with a suffix ‘4G’ against its name. And as the name suggests, the device now comes with a 4G sim card slot. Which means you no longer have to depend on WiFi for your notebook to latch on to the internet and can directly connect to a mobile network without the need for any auxiliary device.

The Mi Notebook Air comes equipped with LTE Cat and supports download speeds of upto 150 Mbps. Available in two variants, the 12.5-inch 1080 P display variant is powered by an Intel Core M3 processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB of SSD storage and an additional SSD expansion slot.  Weighing 1.07 kg, battery backup is a promised 11.5 hours and the device has been priced at CNY 4,699 (Rs 45,800).

The 13.3-inch 1080P display model byis powered an Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB of SSD storage. Xiaomi has also fitted in a 1GB DDR5 Nvidia GeForce GT 940MX Graphics processor. Battery backup is a promised 9.5 hours, while the device tips the scales at 1.28 kilos. Since you get more, hence you pay more. The more powerful Mi Notebook is priced at CNY 6,999 (Rs. 62,200). Common to both the devices is a backlit keyboard and an HDMI and a USB Type-C port.

A tie-up between Xiaomi and China mobile will allow users to benefit from 4GB of free 4G data every month for 12 months from the date of purchase. Available only in China for now, it is unclear whether this device will spread its wings and make itself available in other parts of the world.
