FlightStats rates Air India as the third-worst airline in the World

You mostly avoid flying with them for the experiences you’ve had or the stories you’ve heard. Here’s another one. In a new report, the country’s national carrier Air India has been rated as the third-worst airline in the world by FlightStats, an aviation insights company.

FlightStats has compiled the list after examining flight status and arrival data aggregated from global sources ,including civil aviation authorities, airlines, airports, and major airline reservation systems. An Air India spokesperson trashed the report, alleging that it was “fabricated”.

In a statement, Air India’spokesperson, Dhananjay Kumar said, “We totally disagree with the report published by an agency about Air India. Initially it seems that the report is fabricated so the Air India management will investigate the report till the end.”

However, there’s some consolation if this piece of news hurts your patriotic sentiments. The worst airline, according to the list, is Israeli airline El Al and the second-worst is Icelandair. Apart from Air India, the ten worst carriers list included Air China, Hong Kong Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Qantas, Delta Air Lines and Qatar Airways among others.

Riding on a debt of Rs 46,570 crore, Air India is currently flying on borrowed fuel, which came in the form of a bailout package of Rs 30,000 crore from the Government. Although from personal experiences, we love how Air India’s pilots are still the best out there when it comes to smooth landings and take-offs. Only that those two instances never happen on time. Most Maharajas have always been leisurely anyways. But hey, it is the only carrier that allows 25 kilos of luggage on board for domestic flyers.
