The Qwerty keyboard and Blackberry, both are making a comeback. Riding back into the smartphone space on an Android wave, a new candy bar shaped Blackberry Mercury was recently unveiled at the CES 2017. However, the official launch is almost a month away, where it will be publicly revealed at the MWC 2017.
Now, some juicy details have been leaked by tech journalist Roland Quandt, where he has observed and found that the Blackberry Mercury shares the same Sony IMX378 sensor, which is also found on the Google Pixel. If you wish to see proof of the Google Pixel’s camera capabilities, you may click this part to see how fantastically it managed to capture a dimly lit city.
However, what remains to be seen is whether Blackberry will be able to back that sensor with the same brilliant algorithms and software processing which happens under the Pixel’s body. Shouldn’t be too far off though, considering it will run on the latest Android platform and the makers will in all probability ensure that everything remains top notch for their comeback device. It will be interesting to see how this physical keypad+touchscreen combo survives in an era of touch+voice. However, there still are many fans of the keyboard who like the feel of the press of a button when they type.
