HMD Global owned Nokia is about to make some big announcements and launch new products at the upcoming MWC 2017. However, before the event, a new Nokia device has been listed on E-Commerce website, JD.Com, which is also the site through which the Nokia 6 was sold in China. Called the Nokia 8, the product has been listed in the ‘To be available’ soon category. However, even after scurrying through the page for information and making Google work hard to translate, not much information was found about the device. The render that appears on the page does sport a neat looking, almost bezel free screen though and a circular housing for rear optics
Although we aren’t able to confirm if the listing is authentic, going by the nomenclature, if the Nokia 6 is HMD’s mid-range device, the Nokia 8 could well be the flagship. The phone is rumored to be powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC, but we have our doubts about that, because Samsung has reportedly booked all initially manufactured chipsets for its Galaxy S8. And since that phone hasn’t been launched yet, it is unlikely for another device to beat the Sammy to the pole. In all probability, our guess is that the flagship Nokia could well sport a Snapdragon 821 instead.
The Nokia 8 is also rumored to feature a 5.5-inch QHD SUPER AMOLED display, along with a 24MP rear camera with optical stabilization and a 12 MP front lens. The device is expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box, but concrete details will come our way on the 27th, when Nokia will officially make announcements at the Mobile World Congress. We’ll bring you all the updates from the event. Stay tuned.
