Reliance Jio has crossed the milestone of 100,000,000 (100 million) users in record time. Making an announcement during a press conference, Mukesh Ambani also shared some other staggering numbers, which claimed that Jio has managed to attract a new customer every 7 seconds in the last 170 days. And also that during the last few months, nearly 100 crore GB of data was consumed on the Jio network alone. However, he also made an important announcement about the Free data offer, which is about to expire on March 31st, 2017.
Post March 31, Jio will be a paid service but will offer the most affordable rates among all mobile operators in the country. Mr Ambani mentioned that after March 31, Jio will match each and every plan that other operators are offering or will offer at the same rate but with 20 per cent more data. For those wondering how much will they have to pay to continue using Jio’s 4G services, here’s the deal.
Existing and new users can avail of a Jio Prime membership for Rs.99/year. Post that, as a Jio Prime member, you will be able to pay Rs 303 per month and avail of similar services which are offered now. Which means, you can consume unlimited data (subject to a 1GB FUP limit) everyday at a price of Rs 303 per month for 12 months. Surprisingly, voice calls continue to be free.
During the conference Mr Ambani also mentioned that Jio has more than twice the number of 4G base stations compared to the combined capacity of all other operators in India. That number will be doubled in the coming months and Jio’s network will blanket itself over 99 percent Indians.
