A Korean website has revealed that the upcoming OnePlus device will skip the number ‘4’ as it is considered unlucky by the Chinese, and will be called the OnePlus 5 instead. The flagship killer is rumored to pack some giant slaying equipment and will run Android 7.0 out-of-the-box. Since Samsung has apparently hoarded initial production of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, OnePlus could either wait until the flagship chip becomes available. Or, employ the Snapdragon 830 SoC to power their next device.
A’la the Xiaomi Mi Mix, the OnePlus 5 is rumored to feature a glass-finish body, which could be made of ceramic. Like the upcoming Galaxy S8, the OnePlus 5 could feature a dual-edge display too. The device could also become a spec sheet and real world hero by employing 6GB, or 8GB of RAM to back the processor. If there is some substance to this report though, the highlight of the OnePlus 5 could be its 23MP rear camera which will work in conjunction with the new gen processor to enhance the phone’s photography qualities.
Other details include a USB Type-C port along with dash charging. A 4,000mAh battery and a front facing 16MP camera module that is expected to be similar to the current model. Like the OnePlus 3, the upcoming device could also spawn a 3rd, 256GB variant, in addition to the 128GB and the 64GB storage capacity models. Do take this report with a pinch of salt as there isn’t a way for us to verify these claims. However, we’ll bring you all the concrete information, as and when it arrives. Stay tuned!
