Kanye West’s limited-edition Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 sneakers whip London into a frenzy

Fans of the self-styled “world’s greatest living rockstar” have been camping out for days outside innocuous London footwear stores just to get a chance at a little slice of history: the launch of Kanye West’s limited-edition Adidas Yeezy Boost 350s. With a very select number of units to be made available, deliberately, people are camping out and entering raffles at a select few retailers who will stock the shoe.

West first penned a deal for his shoe range with Adidas in 2013 and the first 9,000 pairs of his Yeezy Boots sold out in ten minutes. Queues also lined up overnight in June 2015 in the run-up to a previous release of a ‘turtle-dove’ version of Kanye’s coveted sneakers.

The Adidas Confirmed app, which was launched in February, allows customers to reserve a special-release sneaker in their size and pick it up later at their desired location. The app is available at both the Google Play and Apple App stores.

The all-black Yeezy Boost 350 features an all-black Primeknit upper with dark gray accents. The shoe has an all-black outsole featuring Adidas’ Boost cushioning technology and laces in dark gray with black accents. This edition is the first in the line to be offered in half sizes. The shoe’s retail price is $200.

In related news, West has also stepped in to replace Frank Ocean’s performance at the  FYF Fest in Los Angeles this weekend. The announcement came Thursday afternoon with a press release stating, “Frank Ocean has decided on his own terms to cancel his appearance.” Ocean was set to perform on the opening night of the festival Saturday. The headlining slot was expected to be a first look at material from his much anticipated followup to 2012’s Grammy winning channel ORANGE.

The press release continued, “With a lineup that already includes Morrissey, D’Angelo and the Vanguard, FKA Twigs, Chet Faker, Flume, Belle & Sebastian and more, FYF Fest is excited to have Kanye West play this weekend in his newly adopted home of Los Angeles.”
