Windows 10 was launched in July this year and after almost four months, last week, Microsoft rolled out its first major update, which is available for PCs and tablets. The update apparently brings improvements in many areas including update of device drivers and compatibility with Windows 10. Microsoft also notified that it will now soon roll out Windows 10 to its gaming console Xbox One and select mobile phones, which means that the number of devices working on Windows 10 are set to go up significantly. The executive Vice President of Microsoft officially declared the availability of the update on the official Windows 10 blog.
Here are the notable improvements that, according to Microsoft, come out with the new update:
Better Performance: As always, each update is always an attempt to provide better performance in terms of processing speed and boot time. According to Microsoft, the boot time in Windows 10 is almost 30 percent faster than compared to Window 7 running on the same system. Considering the boot time of Windows 7 itself, we must say it is some real notable achievement.
Cortana: Windows friendly assistant is now able to support the use of a stylus for handwriting input and it will now let you scribble notes in the Cortana notebook. It has been given the ability to recognize phone numbers, email addresses and even physical addresses which come in handy for day to day activities and note making.
Browser: The new browser that comes with the update allows one to have a preview of the open tabs by hovering the mouse over it. The browser also incorporates enhanced performance and security. The browser also syncs with the user’s reading lists and favorites across devices running on Windows 10 and that makes it easier to refer to things saved on one device from another.
