Xiaomi has finally made an official release of its two devices including the new Redmi Note 3 budget smart phone and MiPad 2 tablet. The new tablet comes with two storage variants; that means customers get a choice between either a 16 GB or a 64 GB internal memory. The tablet has a 7.9 inch display panel with 1536 X 2048 pixel resolution, which remains exactly the same as its predecessor. The device is powered by a 2.24 GHz Intel Atom processor and packs in 2 GB of RAM.
Some other notable features of the newly launched tablet are as follows. It comes packed with a 6190 mAh battery which supports fast charging technology. Connectivity is enabled by WiFi and Bluetooth along with a USB type – C connector. The tablet also sports an 8 Mega Pixel camera at the rear and a 5 Mega Pixel unit in the front, mainly for video calls and selfies. The best part about the tablet is that users can choose the operating system they want to experience this tablet in. Xiaomi offers either Windows 10 or Android Lollipop based MIUI 7 software straight out of the box.
The MIUI software based on Android Lollipop features a special reading mode which is absent in the Windows version of the tablet. All the other features remain exactly the same between the two variants. Xiaomi has put in a lot of effort into the new model by making it lighter and thinner than the original model. It now weighs 322 grams and is only 6.95 mm thick.
The price range of the tablet is, as usual quite budget oriented. The 16 GB model is priced at 999 yuan which is roughly the equivalent of US $ 156 and the 64 GB model is priced at 1299 yuan which is US $ 203.
