HTC to launch a fitness tracker in January 2016

Every phone manufacturing company wants to and is planning on launching fitness tracker bands in the market. With the growing interest and demand for fitness products, these bands definitely seem to have a bright future in the modern world. HTC too wants to cash in on this opportunity. It had announced its first fitness tracker band, HTC Grip, earlier in March but the product was never shipped and never heard of again. Later, some news came in that the formal launch of the product would be delayed and it will be made available only in the year 2016.

Now HTC has announced that the first wearable device from the company will hit the stores in January. Whether the company is referring to the earlier announced HTC Grip or a different device, will only get clearer later on when the company makes formal clarifications on the matter. For now, the only thing we know for certain is that HTC plans on introducing wearable devices that can sync with smart phones and will be broadly classified under the umbrella term – fitness trackers.

Fitness trackers usually monitor and track fitness related metrics like the distance walked or run, heartbeat, calories burnt or consumed and even in some cases, the quality of sleep. The specifications for HTC’s fitness band are not out yet and we shall get a clearer picture once some reliable information is received. Upon launching the company will face competition from other fitness bands available in the market like the Fitbit fitness bands, Xiaomi’s Mi Bands, Enerz Gofit band, etc.

Whether the band becomes a hit among the users or whether it flops out will depend on the pricing and specifications the company includes. It surely has a great scope and we can only hope that HTC did its homework well during the last eight months since its first announcement.
