Epson develops world’s first compact paper recyling system

In what could be considered as a major achievement towards a greener planet, Epson, which is a renowned name in Office electronic supplies, has developed a compact machine which is capable of producing new office paper by using securely shredded waste paper. The machine developed for the purpose does not need water for the entire process. The machine has been named Paper Lab by the company and it plans to launch commercial production of the same in Japan in the year 2016 itself. The company will later expand into other countries, the exact time of which will be decided at a later time, based on the response received in Japan.

The Paper Lab has a variety of production settings embedded into it. According to the company, Businesses and government offices that install a PaperLab in a backyard area will be able to produce paper of various sizes, thicknesses, and types, from office paper and business card paper to paper that is colored and scented. The prototype of the Paper Lab will be demonstrated during the environmental exhibition, Eco – Products 015 that will take place at the Tokyo Big Sight from December 10 to 12.

Paper has always been an essential commodity in the office space and the unending need for the same affects the environment drastically. The need to recycle used paper has always received due importance and markets are flooded with paper bags and some paper artifacts made using recycled paper.

However, the recycling process has always been taken care of by dedicated companies. This is the first time that a portable device has been made which has the potential to make companies stop ordering for huge stacks of blank papers. Whatever the company need be, the Paper Lab can satisfy it and thereby contribute a large bit for a greener planet.
