Microsoft released Cortana, its official artificial intelligence system with Windows 10. However, the latest update of Windows has not reached many users around the world. In its effort to ensure that Cortana reaches a wide range of devices, Microsoft has launched the service across all platforms including iOS, Android and cyanogen based OS. With a vast majority of users in the world relying on either Android or iOS for their smart phones, Microsoft’s move to introduce Cortana across all platforms is sure to hit the target, which is to get a huge number of users acquainted with the artificial intelligence system.
An interesting feature highlighted by Microsoft on their official blog mentions that Cortana can save location based reminders and it helps the users in a tremendous way. Reminders can pop up based on whatever location the user chooses while saving the reminder. This does away with the traditional time based reminders as one can never be sure of the time one reaches one’s destination. One has a further option with the location based reminders – one can ask Cortana to remind something at a specific location or even when approaches the vicinity. This indeed seems a cool feature.
Users will also be able to pair the smart phones and other hand held devices with their desktop PC. That way, even while working or attending meetings, Cortana can ensure that one never misses a call. The ability to send text messages directly from the paired computer without touching the smart phone has also been incorporated into the system.
Convenient tracking is another feature that Microsoft boasts of. One can easily track flights, trains and other means of transport without having to do so manually. Cortana only needs to be told once and it does the rest for the user. However, Google Now is a step further in this regard as it sources information regarding your travel plans right from your inbox and does the racking for you without you having to tell it even once.
