Instagram is rolling out 3D Touch feature in its new version v7.14.0 for its users. The feature was initially added in the app version v7.13.0. that was released last month but was pulled back for a short time because of unknown reasons. The company plans to bring back the withdrawn feature in the new version.
The app will now enable users to use ‘Peek and Pop’ gestures because of full support provided to 3D Touch by the app. These gestures are based on the pressure applied on the screens of iPhone. i.e. iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. There are no extra options available as per hard or soft presses in case of Android. If you want to expand an image all you got to do is hold on an image thumb. Instagram then shows a preview of the image and also gives the user options to like, comment or share. When the user removes the thumb from the display, the image shrinks back to the thumb size.
The new version also allows users to directly like, comment or share the image when it is in the preview mode by dragging their fingers to the option. The image opens in the full size on a simple tap as in case of other phones. The latest version of the app is available for download in Google Play. For the users who are part of Instagram’s beta program, it is testing multiple account support on its Android App.
As per an announcement made by Instagram, the user base has doubled in India over the last year. It already has 400 million users as per September 2015 and over 80 million pictures are shared daily. Company offered a reward to Wesley Wineberg, an independent researcher for finding various vulnerabilities in Instagram. These vulnerabilities can be exploited and anyone can gain full access of the service.
