Xiaomi to merge platforms with Hungama

Reports suggest that the company has now led a US $ 25 million worth of investment into Hungama Digital Media Entertainment, marking its first tie up with an Indian company. Reports suggest that Xiaomi may be looking at integrating content from Hungama into its platforms or vice versa. With this, one can conclude that Xiaomi is satisfied with the response its products have received in India and is now looking at other options to expand its business in the Indian soil.

The whopping investment worth US $ 25 millions, also reiterates the company’s commitment to India. This investment could also help the company give a boost to its localized internet services and therefore find additional revenue sources for itself. This investment could also help the company add on new features to its lineup of smart phones and other electronic gadgets, already available in India. Xiaomi issued a press statement wherein it declared that it intends to integrate Hungama’s content services, which includes the ringtones and themes into its platform. However, the company did not clarify its stand on other content like videos and movies that are also available on Hungama. An executive who spoke on behalf of Xiaomi, noted that the company is looking forward to understand the content sector better with this investment.
