Google has now officially launched the new Chromecast 2 and Chromecast Audio devices in the Indian market. The Chromecast 2 and Chromecast Audio were both initially launched at the much acclaimed Google’s Nexus event in October. The latest Chromecast, which is launched today, is the second generation product that casts audio and video to a TV using the cell phone as a medium. Google Chromecast, in its latest offering, now supports dual-band WiFi for better streaming of content. According to Google, its focus is on gaming as it believes that gaming is the biggest part of an user’s entertainment experience. Google has also released the gaming API for Chromecast, thus allowing developers to add cast feature.
The most useful feature in the device is the Get apps application which is built inside the Cast app and its job is to find contents easily. It delivers the latest app recommendations and offers that it sources from the internet. Google’s focus is on news apps and entertainment apps. Along with the second generation Chromecast, Google has also announced Chromecast Audio dongle, which is designed for music streaming.
Wynk and Saavn are currently the initial music streaming players that are supporting Google Cast. Chromecast Audio is able to connect to any day to day speaker via an aux input. It also supports advanced RCA input for expanded connectivity options. The company has priced both the devices at INR 3,399 and they will be available to buy from online retailers like Flipkart, Snapdeal and Paytm, along with offline retailers like Reliance Digital and Croma Retail.
