Ixigo, which is a travel search marketplace, has come up with a new feature for its cabs booking application that will now allow users to book a cab with just 1-tap and that too, at places without Internet or weak GPS signals. This feature has turned out to be the biggest feature of the application till date. The feature will currently be available for devices running Android. How does this work? According to Ixigo, the feature uses several permutations and combinations of data including the user’s location, which is identified through existing PNR confirmations on the user’s device through its text messages.
The company boasts that with the all-new 1-Tap Booking feature, that it has incorporated in the latest update, users will be able to book the nearest taxi in apparently less than 5 seconds. This has been aided with an intuitive button that is present on the home screen of the device. Ixigo cabs app allows users to search and book cabs from multiple app-based cab providers, which includes Ola, TaxiForSure, EasyCabs, and Jugnoo. This is in addition to others which are available from within its own application.
Rajnish Kumar, who is Ixigo CTO and Co-Founder, commented on the launch saying, opening multiple cab apps to compare ETAs and pricing, and then booking a cab consumes time, especially when you are at a place with weak Internet and GPS signals. On average it takes a minimum of 20 seconds to book a cab on any of the existing cab apps. With 1-Tab Cab Bookings, we allow users to book their nearest cab in just 3 seconds by tapping and holding a button on their home screen. The best part is that this feature works even without internet and GPS.
