Reliance has now expanded its smart phone portfolio with the launch of its new LYF Water 5 smart phone. The latest addition to the Reliance LYF series of budget handsets has priced at INR 11,699 and is now exclusively available via Amazon India. With the launch of LYF Water 5, Reliance now has a total of six smart phones in the series – Reliance Jio Lyf 6, Earth 1, Water 1, Water 2 and Flame 1. The new Reliance Lyf 5 is a dual-SIM smart phone with VoLTE support. The smart phone features a 5-inch HD display with Dragontrail glass protection technology. The phone runs the previous Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and is backed by a Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor that is coupled with 2 GB of RAM. The Lyf Water 5 has a 16 GB of onboard storage, and does not include a microSD card support.
On the camera front, the LYF Water 5 sports a 13 MP rear camera with autofocus technology and LED flash, and the front is equipped with a 5 MP shooter. As far as the connectivity front goes, the smart phone has dual-SIM standby, VoLTE support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Reliance Lyf Water 5 is powered by a sizeable 2,920 mAh battery unit.
The specifications are noteworthy but the smart phone does not seem to stand a chance against the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which is priced lower and offers much better specifications along with a fingerprint sensor support. Besides, the Lenovo Vibe K4 Note, LeEco Le 1S and Le 1S Eco are all also superior in terms of their features and specifications with a lower price point. Reliance will also face tough competition from Coolpad, which has also launched its latest phablet – Coolpad Note 3 Plus at INR 8,999.
