Siri Saves Toddlers Life

In Seven News report we learn of an incident where Apple’s Siri App helped save the life of a one year old child. It is the story of an Australian family where in March, an Australian mother Stacey Glesson suddenly found that her one year old daughter Giana Gleeson had stopped breathing and needed help. She immediately rushed to her child’s side and picked her up. She sat on the floor and began to check her breathing, she realized that she needed help and decided to call for help. Suddenly she remembered that her iPhone was somewhere around as she had lost it during the emergency.

But she could not leave her daughters side and search her iPhone to call for help so simple called out hey Siri call for an ambulance.  The built in voice assistant app in her iPhone directed the call without the mother having to leave the side of her sick daughter. In this manner the device was able to stay on the line with emergency services while the mother revived the child.

Sydney Morning Herald reports that Stacey Glesson said before I knew it the ambulance was on its way and Giana was breathing again. Earlier too, in August Siri had saved the life of a US teen with the help of the same voice assistant to call an ambulance. In this incident the US teen met with an accident in which he was pinned underneath a truck and was not able to reach for his phone, so he called out to Siri instructing it to call for an ambulance. Now it is expected that Apple will make Siri available on other devices and other apps too. Also there is a rumor circulating that in third party apps, a new SDK will let more developers use Siri integration. It is also expected that soon Siri will finally appear on MacOS laptops and desktops.
