Xiaomi sees the power of the Indian fan, the hard way

At Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium during Xiaomi’s Mi Max launch it was noticed that a group of disgruntled fans, screaming slogans like Xiaomi Hai Hai, Hugo Barra Hai Hai. It is surprising to see fans screaming slogans. But the reason was that these fans were made to wait for a long time in the hot humid weather outside the venue gate. As they stood outside arguing to get in someone from the PR team assured them that they would surely be allowed inside. This made them very angry and therefore as soon as they were let into the venue the disgruntled fans started shouting slogans.

Tweets on the Twitter after Mi Max launch shows that it was not a small issue. Disgruntled fans kept shouting and got into a full blown argument with the Mi India team. In the end in order to calm the fans Manu Jain, who is Xiaomi India’s General Manager had to come on stage and promise free gifts in order to cool the angry group of fans. Some felt that distributing Mi T-shirts would be enough to stop the sloganeering but they were proved wrong. Manu Jain had to promise them gifts on the spot. He appealed to them saying please sit down. We’re really sorry, we didn’t think so many people would come. Everyone will get gifts.
