US-based – InFocus launched the all new smartphone that will be up for sale from 25th October. The first from the brand’s ‘EPIC’ line of smartphones the InFocus EPIC 1 will be available in Gold colour and will sell for INR 12,999 exclusively through Amazon.in.
The Infocus EPIC 1 gets a full metal body design highlighted by a brushed-metal finish and curved back. EPIC 1 features a 5.5” 1080p LTPS display upfront that is claimed to have bumped up algorithms that provide an improved experience. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and comes equipped with a fast touch panel that is said to provide 50% higher sensitivity compared to other smartphones.
Powering the InFocus EPIC 1 is a MediaTek Helio X20 processor coupled with 3GB RAM and Mali T880 MP4 GPU. The flagship processor integrates 10 cores in a Tri-Cluster Architecture (explained below) which makes it more efficient. The internal memory provided is 32GB which is expandable up to 128GB. On the rear, the EPIC 1 gets a16 MP camera with PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) and dual tone LED flash. The front facing camera is an 8MP unit with f/1.8 aperture.
The maker claims that the EPIC 1 is the only smartphone in this price segment to offer f/1.8 aperture in its 8 MP wide-angle front camera, a feature often only seen in high-end devices. Features on the camera include Auto Image Stabilization (AIS) technology, Object Tracking & Dynamic Auto Focus. Video recording can be done in slow motion and 4K resolution. Other features of the EPIC 1 include 4G VoLTE, 360-degree recognition based fingerprint scanner, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, USB type C charger for fast charging, and IR Blaster.
Tri-Cluster Architecture explained-
The Tri-Cluster CPU architecture in the MediaTek Helio X20 provides three processor clusters, each designed to handle different types of workloads more efficiently: one cluster of two ARM Cortex-A72 cores running at 2.1GHz for extreme performance and two clusters of four ARM Cortex-A53 cores – one running at 1.85GHz for medium loads and one running at 1.4GHz for light activities. Much like adding gears to vehicles, dividing the cores into three clusters provides a more efficient allocation of tasks for optimum performance and provides up to a 30% reduction of power consumption compared with conventional dual cluster architectures. Moreover, the integration of Category 6 LTE modem and upgraded CorePilot 3.0 advanced scheduling algorithm, EPIC 1 delivers future ready smartphone experience.
