Android Auto Update now in India

Google’s Android Auto program is now available in a host of new countries. The company tweeted regarding the availability of the feature in 17 new countries through its official Android handle. This notification comes in the heels of the Android search app update and the android April Security update. It is worth noting that Android Auto is already up and functioning in several countries like the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand and Spain. This roll-out takes the total number of countries with Android Auto to 29. Meanwhile, Google also updated the app to version 1.6 before the roll-out, meaning that these new countries will directly benefit from the updated app.

The latest version of the app brings in several new features which includes but are not limited to improved phone – car connection, the ability to browse the music collection without any lockout while the vehicle is stopped, essentially bringing in a more detailed music collection. Some of the existing users who may not have received the new features need to update Google Play Services first which will enable the new features that came along with the update for this Google app.

This new roll out to several countries should see an increased adoption of this feature by those manufacturing in-dash infotainment systems. Only a handful of car manufacturers have made their plans related to adoption of this technology known to the public. Mahindra and Mahindra is one local car manufacturer which had announced last year itself its intention to bring this technology to its customers through its car models like the XUV500 and Scorpio. The feature will also be seen in all its future platforms. The roll out is sure to see increased reliability on Google connectivity features in several countries.
