Google has officially revealed one striking feature of the upcoming Android N. No, it is not going to be a heavy visual or aesthetic update. It isn’t going to be performance related too. Nay, not even the battery. It is going to make matters even more convenient by bringing a split screen feature to enable better multitasking. Indeed, Google is only playing catch up here as Windows introduced this feature years ago and several smart phone makers introduced their own versions of multi tasking built over and above Google’s android. But an official feature introduced into the OS will make matters even more convenient and will become a standard feature across all devices.
Andrew Bowers, the Consumer hardware director at Google commented on this revelation. He said, we’re working on lots of things right now for N that, of course, we wish we had, you know, yesterday. But we’d spoil the surprise of N if we shared all of them. Split screen is in the works! However, do not expect this to be an overnight update as Android N is not expected to be released until the end of 2016, or perhaps even later.
Android N is also expected to have a variety of other features that will make Google’s OS even more useful than it currently is. Nothing about the other new features have been revealed yet. And it is way too early for that. Android Marshmallow has not yet shipped to all devices and not all of them have even received android Lollipop yet. However, the launch of Android N will not be delayed much as well because Google follows a pretty predictable schedule for its updates and releases.
