Apple may have conquered the consumer space with an enviable presence, but it is still a minor player in the enterprise segment. Microsoft, Dell, IBM< and a host of other affliated companies still rule the roost there. Apple has hired John Solomon, a former vice president with Hewlett-Packard’s printing personal systems group to run sales of its products to large corporations, reports re/code. He may also take on a role involving international sales of the Apple Watch when it launches this year.
Solomon’s exact role and title are unclear. However, sources told re/code it was central to Apple’s push to boost sales to big companies and government agencies with large technology budgets.
Solomon was Senior Vice President and General Manager of Printers & Personal Systems (PPS) Division, a Division of HP Company since April 2012. He served as Senior Vice President of Imaging and Printing Group (ipg) – Asia Pacific & Japan Region of Hewlett-Packard Company since January 7, 2010. Solomon led the teams responsible for accelerating IPG’s growth in its Asia Pacific and Japan region, which represents an estimated $61 billion market opportunity for printing products and services.
