Apple iPad Pro reportedly to be unveiled at next week’s event

Apple is reportedly planning to take the wraps off its much-rumored iPad Pro on September 9 according to a new report from the usually reliable Mark Gurman from 9to5Mac. Although the report says we’ll see both of these new iPads on September 9, Gurman also notes that there’s a possibility Apple will hold the announcement until October since it’s closer to the products’ ship date. According to the report, next-week’s event will feature an “unprecedented,” blitz of product launches, reflecting the size of the 7,000 seater Bill Graham auditorium in San Francisco.

The Apple iPad Pro is a business-focused slate that will reportedly run iOS 9.1, feature a Force Touch-based stylus, and include a tweaked version of Siri and Notification Center geared towards enterprise users. The iPad Pro is expected to provide a step up from the standard iPad’s 9.7 inch screen, by featuring a screen measuring around 12 inches diagonally. By unveiling the “iPad Pro” two months before it hits the market, Apple is more than likely giving time for developers to create apps specifically for the larger tablet, which is expected to feature a 12.9-inch screen.

Apple is also planning to launch to new iPhone 6S handsets, while the new Apple TV set-top box is also likely to make its big debut during the keynote. As well as the bumper-sized iPad, there’ll also be an iPad 4 Mini announced at the event, which will be thinner than before with an A8 chip.

According to the report, there won’t be an iPad Air 3 announced on September 9th. The sources say it is in the works, but won’t be revealed until 2016. There won’t be any new Macs either, apparently.

The only thing that might hold the tablet back from a 2015 launch would be “sufficient component availability to meet anticipated year-end demand,” says Gurman.
