The micro LED panel size will range from 1 micron to 100 micron. These devices are difficult to manufacture. They will have higher brightness and will be available in the second half of 2017. The device will be slimmer and there batteries will last comparatively for a longer time, but compared to the currently available OLED panels the production cost of the micro LED panel will be much more than the OLED panels. After Apple acquired US-based LuxVue Technologies, which design and develops micro-LEDs for gadgets the incorporation of micro LED panels in the Apple Watch assumed importance.

Reports state that for research and development of new technology a lab has already been established by Apple in northern Taiwan. In the upcoming iPhone 8, the company is also planning to integrate wireless charging capability along with the micro LED panel in Apple Watch 2. Ofcourse these will not be available in iPhone 7. We will have to wait and see whether in the upcoming launch of iPhone 7 the company will be releasing their Apple watch also. As the currently circulating rumor is only a part of the speculation the possibility of the company releasing their Apple watch in the launch is very little. The reports suggest that there will not be too much change regarding feature, design and functionality in the existing iPhone 6s and the upcoming iPhone 7, though during the final stages of manufacturing it is expected that the company will add several improvements.
