ASUS launched its much-awaited smart phone, ZenFone Zoom, in India. The phone is priced at INR 37,999 but the company is also offering a kit, which has a ZenFone Zoom, ZenFlash and a tripod, available at a price of INR 39,990. The phone will be available in two colour variants- Pure Black and Ceramic White which will be up for sale on Flipkart. The device will also be available in ASUS exclusive stores from February 2016.
The phone features an optical zoom capability in the rear camera which is expected to add a new dimension to camera performance in smart phones. The phone sports a 13-megapixel camera with a dual-tone LED flash and a 3x optical zoom. The dual-tone LED flash would create a more natural illumination for indoor environments and would also generate a perfect combination of yellow and white to capture lifelike colours and different skin tones. The rear camera also has a 10-element lens design with up to 12x digital zoom so that it can provide finer close-up details and a laser auto-focus to point and shoot which provides a total clarity in just 0.03 seconds. The phone also features an OIS (optical image stabiliser) for shake-free photos.
The phone is equipped with DSLR-like capabilities. Adjustment of exposure value, ISO, shutter speed, white balance etc. are allowed by the phone. The phone sports a 5-megapixel shooter at the front. It is the world’s thinnest 3x optical-zoom smartphone. The phone is encased in an aluminium unibody with a pure leather back.
The phone is powered by a 64-bit Intel Z3590 quad-core processor that is clocked at 2.5 GHz. It has a 4 GB of RAM. The phone packs a 3000 mAh non-removable lithium-polymer battery using BoostMaster technology hence providing a turbo-speed charging. The phone has a 5.5-inch full HD display which is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The phone runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop with ZenUI atop.
