Taiwan based cellphone major ASUS has big plans and products lined up for 2017. At the CES this year, they revealed the ZenFone AR – the world’s first Tango and Daydream enabled phone. Along with the ZenFone 3 Zoom, a dual lens camera phone which allows 2.3X optical zoom.
While sales witnessed a decline in 2016, the company managing to ship 17.5 million devices, as compared to 20.5 million phones, which were shipped a year earlier. However, for this year, ASUS has again set a target of shipping 20 million phones, which they believe will be achieved by the introduction of a refreshed lineup of the ZenFone series. According to a report, the new lineup of ZenFone 4 phones will go on sale with upgraded specifications, as compared to the ZenFone 3 series. However, not much information is available about the said lineup of phones yet.
An Asus X00GD was spotted at Chinese certification website TENAA earlier this month, and is believed to be one of the smartphones in the upcoming ASUS ZenFone 4 series. The device was spotted running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and comes fitted with a massive 4580 mAh battery. Featuring a 5.2-inch HD display, the smartphone is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Mediatek MT6750 processor. The Asus X00GD sports a 13-megapixel rear camera, coupled with dual-tone LED flash, and an 8-megapixel camera at the front. A fingerprint scanner has been embedded into the ‘Home’ button, and by the looks of things, this will in all probability be their mid-level player.
