The Asus ZenFone Zoom smart phone is now available for purchase to consumers in the U.S. The unlocked variant of the Android-powered smartphone has been priced at $399.99. The smart phone is already available in Taiwan since December 2015, when it was launched. After an unusual delay, ASUS reintroduced the smartphone at IFA 2015 in Berlin. So the USA is actually only the third market where the ZenFone Zoom has gone on sale.
In terms of image quality the ZenFone Zoom cannot only rival single-lens reflex (SLR) camera, judging from all the features it as well as outshine iPhone 6s Plus, said Jonney Shih, Asus Chairman at the time of the smart phone’s release in the U.S.
The ZenFone Zoom is available in the United States through B&H Photo Video site for $399, and this very same store which is based in New York is shipping this handset to Canada as well. However, the unlocked smart phone can be only used on AT&T and T-Mobile networks in the U.S. It won’t support CDMA networks like Verizon and Sprint. It has a 13-MP rear and a 5-MP front camera.
Some other specifications of the smart phone are as follows. The ZenFone Zoom is powered by 2.5GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor and merged with 4GB of RAM. A dedicated physical camera shutter button is present too, just as you would expect on a camera-centric smartphone. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 + EDR, NFC, IR, GPS with A-GPS, and 4G LTE connectivity. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with Asus’ ZenUI available on top of it. The phone measures 158.9 x 78.8 x 12 mm while it weighs 185 grams. As for the battery, the ZenFone Zoom comes with a sealed 3000mAh capacity battery inside.
