BlackBerry has launched its newest Android smartphones in India namely the DTEK50 and the DTEK60. The Blackberry DTEK50 is priced at Rs. 21,990, while the DTEK60 would cost a whopping Rs. 46,990. The DTEK50 will be available from the 12th of November while the DTEK60 will go on sale in early December. Here’s all you need to know about the two latest Android phones from Blackberry.
DTEK50
The DTEK50 is a single Micro SIM device with a 5.2-inch full-HD display (424ppi). Computing power is provided by a 1.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC along with 3GB of RAM. The phone gets a 13-megapixel, f/2.0, 6-element rear shooter with dual tone LED flash and PDAF. Front camera is an 8 megapixel unit with an f/2.2 aperture.
Internal storage is 16GB, expandable to 2 TB via an external MicroSD card. Battery is a 2610 mAh non-removable unit featuring Quick Charge 2.0 and capable of charging it to 50% in 51 minutes. Blackberry is claiming a talk time of 17 hours and standby time of 12.8 days.
Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, FM radio, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and NFC. The dimensions of the phone are 147×72.5×7.4mm and it weighs 135 grams.
DTEK60
The DTEK60 gets a richer 5.5 inch QHD display with 1440×2560 pixel resolution amounting to a pixel density of 534ppi. Powering the phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Soc with 4 GB of RAM. You don’t get a dual-SIM capability here with just one Micro SIM slot.
Rear camera is a 21-megapixel, 6-element, f/2.0 unit with phase detection auto focus and dual-tone LED flash. Front unit is an 8-megapixel fixed focus camera with an 84-degree wide-angle lens and an f/2.2 aperture.
Internal memory is pegged at 32GB, which is expandable to a humongous 2TB via external microSD card. Battery is a 3000mAh non-removable unit featuring Quick Charge 3.0, and claimed to have 26 hours of talk time along with 14 days of standby. The phone weighs a decent 165gm.
Connectivity specs include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and NFC. It measures 153.9×75.4x7mm and weighs in at 165 grams. Sensors include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and proximity sensor.
Both DTEK 50 and DTEK 60 come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with BlackBerry’s skin on top. Blackberry calls these smartphones as the ‘world’s most secure phones’ owing to encryption and BlackBerry Enterprise services. The company, which has had a long history of association with big corporate is also offering its Enterprise Mobility Management solutions to target large companies.
