Canon India launches four new point-and-shoot cameras

While lenses embedded in cellphones are fast taking over the digital camera space, there are some who still appreciate the singularity of an object’s purpose. For such folks, Canon India has added four new products in its point-and-shoot range. Read on for model wise details.

New PowerShot G9 X Mark II: Rs 30,995 (Available February onwards)

This new powershot G9, features a new DIGIC 7 image processor, which delivers high precision tracking performance and allows for touch detection of image subjects. It allows continuous shooting of 8.1 fps, making it effortless for users to track and capture fast moving subjects. The new processor suppresses edge noise at high ISO speeds – At ISO 1600, noise is suppressed to the equivalence at ISO 800. The 3x large aperture zoom lens 24-84mm (35 mm equivalent) assures high image quality even in low-light conditions.

A newly developed dual sensing image stabilisation (IS) feature provides 3.5 stops of image stabilisation when shooting still images, reducing camera shake when shooting in low light. It embeds a gyro sensor that detects physical vibration and a new algorithm that utilises information from the image sensor to compensate for image blur.

The LCD is a touch screen and a control ring makes it easy to jog through settings. The PowerShot G9 X Mark II is now equipped with the in-camera RAW image processing feature and also supports batch processing. Bluetooth low energy technology is also newly introduced to the PowerShot G9 X Mark II. It allows users to use their mobile devices as a remote control for shooting or playback of images. A new version of the Camera Connect smartphone app interface for remote live view shooting delivers improved usability with both the guide display of AF operations and setting display on the same screen. The new image filter function of the Camera Connect smartphone app also makes it easier to search through vast amount of image and video files on an SD card.
