Here’s a car audio system which will excite those whose cars have been jealous of other vehicles for the lack of smartphone compatible touchscreen systems. Sony India has launched the XAV- AX100, an in-car audio receiver and player which is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto. A voice compatible, touchscreen system, it supports navigation, music and other bits from your phone to keep your hands free while you drive. Although iPhone users will find that Navigation is not enabled for CarPlay in India yet.
In addition to voice command features, unlike other systems, the Sony XAV-AX100 features a physical dial for volume control so that you don’t have to hunt for it and take your eyes off the road. Promising high-grade audio quality, the system is supported by 55watts x 4 Dynamic Reality Amp 2 and Sony’s EXTRA BASS technology for low boost circuitry, which successfully overcomes engine noise. The Sony XAV-AX100 features a 10-band graphic equalizer and 3-pre outs which makes it easy for enthusiasts to add amplifiers and additional speakers. It comes with rear USB and rear camera input for easy parking. It also supports Bluetooth and comes fitted with an external mic.
A Dynamic Stage Organizer (DSO) helps to overcome the inherent acoustic disadvantage of front-door mounted, full-range speakers which can sound muddy or unclear. The DSO system adjusts the signal, creating the illusion of dash-mounted virtual speakers to provide an ideal, high quality sound experience. The Sony XAV-AX100 will be available through car accessories shops and car showrooms across India starting this month and has been priced at Rs. 26,990.
