CES 2017: Lenovo introduces new ‘Legion’ line of gaming pcs

In a press release for this new line of gaming pcs, Lenovo says they spent time listening to a community of gamers to better understand what they value most. The result, a dedicated sub-brand for Lenovo gaming PCs – called Lenovo Legion. For now, two products, one called the Lenovo Legion Y720 for mainstream gamers and a Y520 Laptop for enthusiasts has been introduced.

The 15-inch  Y520 comes with red accents and keyboard backlight, while it remains multicolored on the Y720. Inside both, you’ll find new seventh-generation Intel Core i7 processors, topping out at a quad-core Core i7-7700HQ on the higher-end Y720. That model also has a matte 4K display option (3840 x 2160), whereas the cheaper Y520 can only stretch up to 1080p resolution.

Both machines are packed with Nvidia graphics, up to the current GeForce 1060 in the Y720 – a GTX 1050 on offer on the Y520. The higher specced machine also includes a Thunderbolt 3 port for fast connections to accessories and external displays, and an optional 4K display with an anti-glare coating.

The Y720 is also the first Windows laptop with built-in Dolby Atmos and comes with an integrated Xbox One wireless receiver. Both machines can be ticked for up to 16GB of DDR4 memory and 2TB storage. The Lenovo Legion Y720 Laptop starts at $1,399.99 and will be available in April 2017, while the Lenovo Legion Y520 Laptop starts at $899.99 and will be available in February 2017.
