CES 2017: Tech Show Moves beyond ‘Smart’ and Welcomes ‘Augmented Reality’

The Consumer Electronics Show will begin with a series of Media events on Tuesday and is expected to offer professionals a look at connected cars and new robotics apart from a wide assortment of gizmos ranging from drones to sneakers. On the occasion of celebrating its 50th Anniversary, the organizers of this mega extravaganza of the tech world have promised to have the largest showcase of VR Technologies ever.

Gary Shapiro, president of the Consumer Technology Association that organizes the annual show said in a Reddit chat that “Virtual reality is changing the game for a variety of industries including health care, agriculture, manufacturing and business. Doctors are using VR to enhance traditional therapies, architects use VR to design stronger buildings and travel agencies are using it to simplify vacation planning.” A collection of Virtual Reality experiences is expected to entice the attendees during the show.

According to analyst Jack Gold at J. Gold Associates, “gaming is where it is going to take off first” because that’s where people are spending a lot of money these days. This year the trade show is expected to represent 150 countries and big industry names like Sony, LG and Samsung are all set to showcase their innovations in the field.
