On the occasion of World Environment Day, for the first time, China introduced environmental prize. It was observed that on that day a sum total of 33 individuals and 19 groups in China, won the newly established environmental prize. The world environment day is celebrated every year on 5th June.
The provinces and regions of Sichuan, Xinjiang, Zhejiang and Tibet were instrumental in bringing out the winners of the ecological civilization award. The state run Xinhua news agency reported, that every three years the award event will be run by the Ministry of Environmental Protection. With the aim of building a beautiful China, they held a symposium there to promote ecological conservation.
The Vice Chair of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, which is China’s top legislature, Shen Yueyue said that the central government highly valued ecological conservation is clearly indicated by the act of him giving an award for environment protection. Shen also said that the people of the nation should be determined and should show their confidence in all endeavours, also the people should learn from experience and from the champions that their central government highly valued ecological conservation. Ministry has said that the title of ecology friendly cities is won by 133 Chinese cities and countries.
