The Google Play Store has been integrated into the Asus Chromebook Flip by Chrome OS developer channel 53. Recently, it was disclosed by Google that in the upcoming Google I/O conference the Android apps would be made available to Chrome OS. We can expect that by the end of 2016 the full-fledged Android apps and games to Chrome OS will be available. It is heard that a similar update to the Chromebook Pixel and Acer Chromebook R11 will be available. However there is no update regarding the integration of Play Store in these devices.
Reports state that the Play Store update, which is available from the developer channel comes with apps such as Hangouts, Maps, Search. As the launcher is in the Windowed app mode you will not be able to change the launcher but will be able to install Google Now launcher. At this point of time apps like Google+ or Talon for Twitter are incompatible though few apps work well. The developer has to build apps that are compatible with the device hardware, after taking into account the capabilities of various Flip and other Chromebooks.
Without depending upon a device loaded with Android, users will be able to make use of their favorite Android apps directly on their Chromebooks because Chrome OS will enable developers to expand their applications market share. You will be able to work with apps like Google Play Movies & TV and Netflix, Snapseed image editor, Photoshop Express, and more on Play Store integration but on Asus Chromebook Flip, it has been reported that users have faced several problems. You are enabled to view storage and USB details, Apps, Security, Location, Accounts among other parameters by the Android Settings menu in the new Chrome OS 53.
