Sony used to do it, Samsung did it and Apple tried it once. Now, if this report from China is to be believed, Xiaomi is bringing back the power of big in a small package. A mini flagship, which could be called the Xiaomi Mi S, is in the works and could be launched soon.
Some saucy details which were supposedly leaked during a promotional event, suggest that this mini flagship could be powered by a Snapdragon 821 Soc, while the display could be a 4.6-inch Full HD display with 2.5D curved glass on top. Running 4 gigs of RAM and 128GB of internal memory, the phone could sport a 12MP rear shooter with a Sony IMX378 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, 4K video capture and dual-LED flash. The front lens could be a 4MP lens with an f/2.0 aperture and support 1080p video recording.
The home button could also double up as a fingerprint scanner, while the battery will be a 2,600 mAh unit with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 through a USB Type-C port. Tipping the scales at 138 gms, dimensions are claimed to be 128.3 x 64.2 x 8.2 mm.
With not many options these days for people who like their devices to be pint sized, Xiaomi could just hit the right note with this one. And given their legacy of offering stellar products at a great price, expect this phone to be one of the sweetest sub 5-inch deals around, if and whenever it shows itself to the world.
