Doogee, a Hong Kong based company has come up with a press release stating that in the early 2016, it is going to launch the first of its kind smart phone with 10 cores. The company is reportedly in advanced level talks with Mediatek, which is a reliable name in the SoC world. Upon the launch of such a phone, it is sure to set a trend among other manufacturers to launch similar competitors. A phone with 10 cores is going to be a high performance phone and therefore likely to be targeted towards heavy users.
There is also a possibility that bigger smart phone manufacturers may not jump into this segment immediately but wait a while to gauge the market reaction this handset from Doogee gets. If the upcoming smart phone is seen creating a craze in the market, they might want to cash on in the opportunity and come up with heavy use smart phones of their own. If and when, big names like Apple and Samsung ever come up with such phones, the lower level ones might get seriously neglected, considering the speed loving users out there. The price scale of the new category will also play a major role to determine its demand in the market.
The Mediatek Helio X20 MT6797 chipset is expected to be a super fast processor but the question is whether Doogee supports it with compatible hardware. Speed alone cannot be of any use unless the phone comes with added features that a heavy smart phone user might need. An avid gamer, for instance, may need a sizeable screen with HD display and supporting graphics.
