Educational apps for children by nine year old at WWDC 2016

One of the biggest event on the tech calendar every year is the annual developer’s conference. This year too on Monday, we saw Apple’s annual developer’s conference WWDC 2016  taking place. In this conference one of the participants was young Anvitha Vijay, who is an Australian girl with a dream to go to WWDC and meet Tim Cook. This young participant Anvitha, is just nine year old child. She has a number of iOS apps to her credit.

Fortune reports that Apple selected this young Australian girl, as she had applied for a scholarship to travel to WWDC. The report further states that as part of an effort on Apple’s part to add diversity to its developer event, out of a total of 350 recipients of the scholarship, 120 were below 18 years and 22 percent were women.

Anvitha Vijay wanted to build mobile apps. She did not have any formal training, just by watching tutorials on YouTube she learned to code. She told Fortune that coding was so challenging. But I’m so glad I stuck with it. For teaching children animal’s names and sounds, this small nine year old Anvitha has come out with Smartkins Animals app which on appearance appears to be very simple. While describing the process of creating the app, Vijay told Fortune, that turning an idea for an app involves a lot of hard work. There are so many components to building an app, including prototyping, design and wire framing, user interface design and then coding and testing.
