The new Gionee Marathon M5 Lite, which is expected to hit the market very soon, is, as the name suggests, a toned down version of the hugely successful Marathon M5. It has become a trend for smart phone manufacturers to launch a flagship phone and then come up with a toned down or beefed up version of the same, depending on demands and reactions from the customers. It also makes available the same flagship phone to new customers who may be looking for similar features with small tweaks and at a different budget range.
The new Gionee Marathon M5 Lite will have a 5 inch display with 720p resolution and will sport IPS LCD technology. The phone will run on Android Lollipop 5.1 which is the latest and the best update released by Google before the launch of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The android 5.1 in this phone will be skinned with the Amigo OS 3.0, which promises a great UI and performance. The phone is expected to be powered by a quad core MediaTek processor, which is expected to boost the performance of this device.
On the storage front, the new Gionee Marathon M5 Lite is expected to have 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. However, the phone packs in a staggering 4,000 mAh battery, which should keep the phone running for a long time. We shall get back with the exact talk time and stand by duration once the phone is officially launched and available in the market.
The new Gionee Marathon M5 Lite will also sport a 8 MP primary camera at the rear end and 5 MP secondary shooter in the front. The primary camera will be supplemented by an LED flash for better low light photography. What do you think of the Lite version of the phone? Or would you prefer the original Marathon M5?
