Gionee S9 launched With Dual Rear Camera, Priced CNY 2499

Gionee has launched its S9 smartphone camera in China and priced it at CNY 2,499 or INR 25,000. The  S9 boasts a dual rear camera setup with a combo of  13 and 5 megapixel sensors from Sony and Samsung. The setup allows the user to retroactively alter the depth of  field and create a pronounced bokeh effect – a feature that’s been available in phones like the Huawei P9 and Apple iPhone 7 Plus. In addition to the dual sensor rear camera, the S9 also gets a 13 megapixel front camera with a selfie flash, a timer and many enhancement modes.

The Gionee S9 gets a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 px) display with 2.5D curved glass. Processing power is derived from a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek (MT6755) Helio P10 processor along with 4GB of RAM. Internal storage is pegged at 64GB with external storage via microSD card allowing up to 128GB through a hybrid dual-SIM setup. Battery power on the Gionee S9 is provided by a 3000mAh unit.

The S9 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Gionee’s Amigo OS 3.5 on top. Dimensions of the phone stand at 154.2 x 76.4 x 7.4 mm with the phone weighing around 168 grams. Connectivity options include 4G with VoLTE, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and Micro-USB.

The Gionee S9 gets a fingerprint sensor at the back which can also be used to lock apps and documents. For those among us with a secret alter ego, the phone also lets users save their images, contacts, text and call history in a separate area which is fingerprint protected.
