Giorgio Moroder and Skrillex to provide music for new Tron game

Italian electronic composer Giorgio Moroder is providing the music for a video game adaptation of the Tron movie. In an interview with Clash Music, Moroder, also known for his work on movies such as Scarface, said he had already produced five themes of “electronic stuff” for the game, and would be meeting with dubstep superstar Skrillex to discuss possible remixes.

“I’m going to meet Skillrex next week when I’m back. I’m doing music for a game for Disney’s Tron. We have about five themes, electronic stuff and let’s see if he’s interested in remixing or re-working one of the songs,” the legendary composer said.

The last Tron games – Tron: Evolution and Tron: Evolution – Battle Grids – appeared in 2010, and coincided with the release of Disney’s Tron: Legacy movie sequel.

Moroder has had an impressive career, in both Hollywood and gaming industry. Many of his music have been used in Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City and Vice City Stories.

A sequel to Tron: Legacy has been in development for years,so it makes sense that the preparations for a game is part of a plan to make a new movie. It would certainly make sense if Moroder’s music appeared in both game and film. Series star Bruce Boxleitner said last year that a sequel to Tron: Legacy could be moving ahead in 2015, but Disney has remained quiet about the whole situation so far.
