Google, Facebook, Microsoft, IBM and Amazon join hands to form ‘Partnership on AI’

As for a (very) cliché introduction, the world is going forward day-by-day, the technology is advancing minute by minute which in turn is improving human life second-by-second. Humans have achieved the impossible of the 90s while their modern day technology has accomplished feats that seemed unattainable just a decade ago! Nowadays technology isn’t just assisting our lifestyle but slowly taking over. And to make things better and take the whole Artificial intelligence to a more intelligent level some huge tech and business giants have come together to form an organisation.

Coming together in this partnership is internet-based largest retailer – Amazon; IBM – who’s computer helped us to put men on the moon; along with Microsoft – who gave us Windows; Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook, and the big G – Google. Concerned divisions of these companies have joined hands to form a non-profit organization named – Partnership on Artificial Intelligence to Benefit People and Society (Partnership on AI).

Partnership on AI aims to address opportunities and challenges with AI technologies for the benefit of society. It will work to make the public understand the concept of artificial intelligence technologies in a better way.  As stated officially

As stated officially ‘Its members will carry out research, recommend best practices, and publish research under an open license in areas such as ethics, fairness, and inclusivity; transparency, privacy, and interoperability; collaboration between people and AI systems; and the trustworthiness, reliability, and robustness of the technology. It does not intend to lobby government or other policymaking bodies.’

The organisation will develop and formulate best practices on the challenges and opportunities within the field and its founding members will each contribute financial and research resources. Academics, non-profits, and specialists in policy and ethics will come onboard as well.

While these US-based giants have come together, two other biggies from the same country seem to have no connection with the pact. It is Apple and Tesla we are talking about. Maybe, Apple is occupied with their recently launched iPhone7 duo and Tesla is busy planning to colonize Planet Mars. Probably, more companies like Intel, Twitter, and Ebay etc will join later.
