The Google I/O unfolded today with the intention to let the world know what the company has planned for the upcoming year. If you missed tuning in to the greatest event of all time, here is a quick recap of everything that transpired there. Among the several interesting announcements made, one of the most interesting announcements was about Google Home. Google Home is Google’s direct competition to Amazon Echo, which according to reviews is doing great and receiving accolades for the same. Amazon Echo is a small wireless speaker and voice command device from Amazon. The device is capable of voice interaction, music playback, making to-do lists, setting alarms, streaming podcasts, playing audiobooks, and providing weather, traffic and other real time information. It can also control several smart devices.

Google Home is a similar device that works like the Amazon Echo. Just like Alexa is the wake word for Amazon Echo, One’s voice is the remote control for Google Home as well. It is designed to be a control centre for the home. It can do all that Amazon Echo is capable of doing and some more. In the future, Google claims that Google Home will be able to control stuff even outside of one’s home too, for instance, opening garage doors, ordering flowers, etc.
Google Home is a device that is must for the smart home. With the world moving towards a time when humans and technology live together, it will not be uncommon to have a device that can communicate with a person and even run errands on one’s behalf. No we aren’t talking about robots here. Virtual assistants like Google Home are more like it. We certainly look forward to more information on that regard from Google. Keep coming back for more.
