The Google I/O unfolded today with the intention to let the world know what the company has planned for the upcoming year. If you missed tuning in to the greatest event of all time, here is a quick recap of everything that transpired there. Among the several interesting announcements made, one of the most interesting announcements was its follow up on Google Assistant. Google Assistant and OK Google are now common terminologies for android users. The conference brought necessary update on the future of the Google Assistant and its new features and capabilities. Google first introduced Assistant as an answer to Apple’s Siri and it now has quite a number of people already dependent on it for day to day chores.
Google Assistant combines the power of search and machine learning. The company intends to make it a powerful search assistant which will not only provide better search results, because that is what it is supposed to do, but also offer better answers to follow up questions. This will therefore be an update and an advanced version of what Google Now already does. One can ask a query and receive almost an instantaneous answer which is followed as the assistant initiates a conversation and narrows down the search result to exactly what one needs at the moment.

The same service will also be integrated in Google’s smart messaging app, Allo, which will enable it to act as a chat bot and pick up words and phrases from the text and suggest suitable replies. It can also look up nearest coffee shops or a movie hall that is playing a particular movie or even a restaurant with the kind of food one is craving for at the moment.
