The Google I/O unfolded today with the intention to let the world know what the company has planned for the upcoming year. If you missed tuning in to the greatest event of all time, here is a quick recap of everything that transpired there. Among the several interesting announcements made, one of the most applauded announcements was about Google’s very own Android TV and VR headset. This Android TV is nothing but XIaomi’s Mi Box. Currently XIaomi is the only partner to manufacture the television set that will run Android TV. However, Google also announced other partners from around the world such as Sony Bravia and RCA that will also manufacture television sets that run Google’s Android TV.

Google’s very own VR Headset will be much like other VR headsets that are currently available in the market. Samsung, Sony and HTC are some companies that have their VR Headsets in the market already. The most important feature of Google’s very own VR headset will be its compatibility with Daydream – smart phone compatible feature that it introduced during I/O 2016. This will give it an edge over other competitor VR Headsets which do not yet have any compatible platform for their use and depend on third party applications for their use.
Google has rendered a reference design for its VR Headset as well. The final device is expected to look more or less like the design itself. However, since no prototype of the device was shown, it may take a while for Google to bring in the device to the market. The company did not share any time frame for the availability of the device. With Virtual Reality gathering steam, Google might just bring in this device when the world will want its share of virtual reality within its grasp.
